They
are the perfect pet, with the intelligence of the Siamese with the more
laid back attitude of the American Shorthair. They are affectionate, playful
and get along well with other cats. The Snowshoe is a healthy cat, with
no known health problems. They are vibrant and active but not high strung.
Kittens
are born all white. Color and markings will start to become visible between
1 and 3 weeks of age. The patterns or markings are different on every
kitten. The show cat will usually have an inverted "V" on the
face with white feet which are ankle high on the front feet and no higher
than the hock on the rear feet. However, kittens more often come with
too much white, known as high-white, or 3/4 white; mitted, with little
or no white on the face; or solid, with no white anywhere. Seal Point
and Blue Point are the most common colors, and all have beautiful blue
eyes.

If
you are a true cat lover you know that you don't really own them as much
as they own your heart. If you are lucky enough to have a Snowshoe as
your friend you may have to learn to play fetch. A kitten who is not destined
to be a show cat can still be a purrfect pet.
The
following pictures are prime examples of how the color of a Snowshoe changes
as the cat matures.
